Faith is essential to our salvation and our present life in Christ. The Apostle Paul said that we are saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8) and that we live or walk through faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). The Apostle Peter says that we are guarded for salvation through faith (1 Peter 1:5). If you are looking at your English translation of the Scriptures you may be noticing that the preposition that I have translated as "through" in each of these three cases is variously translated as 'through' or 'by.' In each case the preposition is the same dia in the original New Testament language, Koine Greek. We are saved by God's grace, live each day in the power of God's grace, and are guarded by God's power, but it all comes through our Faith. Our faith, appropriately directed toward God, and sufficiently substantive, is that through which God supplies. Faith is the variable that we are in control of. The series of sermons below specifically address the substance of a saving faith. Are you saved? If you have a concern about your salvation, listen to this series of sermons.
